Founded in 2017, JCEMS is the only peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to collegiate EMS. As we grow, we aim to increase visibility for collegiate EMS and highlight its unique patient care approach in academic medicine.
Joining JCEMS offers a valuable opportunity to elevate the voices of collegiate EMS clinicians and colleagues, support innovative EMS research, and improve your knowledge of publishing and leadership. Engage with the collegiate EMS community while building your resume and gaining professional experience with a dynamic, growing publication.
Available Role Opportunities:
- Editorial & Production Division Roles:
- Participate in the full scholarly literature publishing cycle through involvement in peer/editorial review processes, manuscript revision guidance, scientific copy-editing, and review
- Manage digital publication workflow (metadata, DOIs, HTML)
- Author scholarly and news articles
- Collaborate on branding, layout, and dissemination protocol
- Business & Journal Operations Division Roles:
- Produce and contribute content for the JCEMS podcast
- Manage the JCEMS social media platforms through interactive content
- Host meetings with collegiate EMS agencies to promote collegiate EMS research
- Coordinate special events for the journal (i.e., Annual Academic Poster Session)
- Develop unique opportunities for outreach and networking between the journal, expert researchers, clinicians, and collegiate EMS agencies
Time Commitment:
- Approx. 5 hours/week, irrespective of role. May increase during peak submission/publication times
- Attendance at the Annual NCEMSF Conference is highly recommended, but not required
We are highly enthusiastic about welcoming new members to our team. Prior experience with publishing is not required, just enthusiasm and willingness to learn! All members of the JCEMS team are unpaid volunteers.
